Fallen

Fallen

by: Lauren Kate

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce—and goes out of his way to make that very clear—she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

My rating ****

Many people compare Fallen to Twilight.... and I'm not sure how i feel about that. Yes, i will agree that both books speak of forbidden love and supernatural abilities, but i think that's where the similarity ends. There is also an element of a "love triangle", but the two stories are completely different.

Fallen is the kind of book you just cant put down. It has a very interesting plot and the way it plays out. However, it does start of rather slowly and then picks up the pace too quickly for my likings. Once the action starts every few paragraphs you have to stop and take it all in.

Fallen is full of mystery, suspenseful events and of course romance. I truly fell in love with the way Lauren Kate described Daniel. He is this lonely, "bad boy" and at the same time, he is a sensitive artist. From the very begging of the book you know that Daniel is different, special and definitely not human, however i couldn't put my finger down on what he was. Of course, the title itself gives you kind of an idea, but the book keeps you guessing till the end. The way the author described the undeniable chemistry between Daniel and Luce is truly amazing. I don't want to give too much away, you'll just have to find out on your own.

If you enjoy fantasy, mystery, suspense and romance this is a book for you. And prepare yourself because the sequel Torment is being released in August of this year. I, myself can not wait.
