Cresendo

by: Becca Fitzpatick

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.
The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Dreamland

Dreamland

By: Sarah Dessen

Rogerson Biscoe, with his green eyes and dark curly hair, is absolutely seductive. Before long, sixteen-year-old Caitlin finds herself under his spell. And when he starts to abuse her, she finds she's in too deep to get herself out...

My Rating ***

I have read a very promising review of this book and let’s just say I am slightly disappointed. I love Sarah Dessen, however I felt this novel started off way to close and when the climax came the book was almost over. Having said that,
I loved that this time she approached a teenage romance from a different angle, darker and a bit more controversial. The language was great and as always the author didn’t leave out her amazing usage of metaphors.

Like in all Dessen’s novels connecting with the characters and putting yourself in their shoes was extremely easy. I felt Caitlin’s pain as she dealt with her sister abandoning her, her mother’s pressure, school and of course Rogerson.
For many teenagers this story might hit very close to home, but for some reason it will give you hope for a better tomorrow. I would recommend this book to many.

Forget You

by Jennifer Echols

WHY CAN’T YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU FORGET . . . AND WHAT YOU REMEMBER? There’s a lot Zoey would like to forget. Like how her father has knocked up his twenty-four- year old girlfriend. Like Zoey’s fear that the whole town will find out about her mom’s nervous breakdown. Like darkly handsome bad boy Doug taunting her at school. Feeling like her life is about to become a complete mess, Zoey fights back the only way she knows how, using her famous attention to detail to make sure she’s the perfect daughter, the perfect student, and the perfect girlfriend to ultra-popular football player Brandon. But then Zoey is in a car crash, and the next day there’s one thing she can’t remember at all—the entire night before. Did she go parking with Brandon, like she planned? And if so, why does it seem like Brandon is avoiding her? And why is Doug—of all people— suddenly acting as if something significant happened between the two of them? Zoey dimly remembers Doug pulling her from the wreck, but he keeps referring to what happened that night as if it was more, and it terrifies Zoey to admit how much is a blank to her. Controlled, meticulous Zoey is quickly losing her grip on the all-important details of her life—a life that seems strangely empty of Brandon, and strangely full of Doug.

This Lullaby

This Lullaby

by: Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen's captivating novel introduces readers to a girl who believes her heart is made of stone-and the boy who proves her wrong.

Raised by a mother who's had five husbands, eighteen-year-old Remy believes in short-term, no-commitment relationships until she meets Dexter, a rock band musician.

My Rating ****

“This Lullaby” was a pleasant read. Like all Dessen novels it’s a modern romance story with bunch of twists and turns and as always very realist and relatable.

It is narrated by a very cynical and sarcastic Remy, which honestly it’s the best part of the protagonist. What really kept me glued to the book were actually the supporting characters. I fell in love with the friendship that the girls had and how different each of them was. However, the best was of course Dexter. He's quirky, funny, awkward, and maybe a bit dorky. For me he brings this novel to a full circle.

Family plays a big role in Sarah’s stories and at some points in this book you will be surprised how big…. The ending will be a surprise as well… however I wish it would be a little more developed. I feel like it was cut short.

In conclusion “This Lullaby” is a romantic, heart warming book, that showed how learning to love yourself can help you accept others around you.

The Truth About Forever

The Truth About Forever

by:Sarah Dessen

Macy's summer stretches before her, carefully planned and outlined. She will spend her days sitting at the library information desk. She will spend her evenings studying for the SATs. Spare time will be used to help her obsessive mother prepare for the big opening of the townhouse section of her luxury development.
But Macy's plans don't anticipate a surprising and chaotic job with Wish Catering, a motley crew of new friends, or . . . Wes. Tattooed, artistic, anything-but-expected Wes. He doesn't fit Macy's life at all&150so why does she feel so comfortable with him? So . . . happy? What is it about him that makes her let down her guard and finally talk about how much she misses her father, who died before her eyes the year before?
Sarah Dessen delivers a page-turning novel that carries readers on a roller coaster of denial, grief, comfort, and love as we watch a broken but resilient girl pick up the pieces of her life and fit them back together.

MY RATING *****

By now I have read almost all of the novels written by Sarah Dessen and they never disappoint. However, “The truth about forever” is by far my favorite.
What makes all Dessen novels special to me is the way she writes. All the characters are relatable and realistic. Reading about them and their problems, makes us reflect on our life.

Sarah Dessen has a way of intertwining real life with summer romance in this book that draws the reader in on so many levels. Her writing style is wonderful, and it's close to impossible to not get sucked into the very lives of her characters. While I was reading this book, I laughed and cried with Macy and her experiences with Wish Catering; and I found myself falling head over heels for Wes just like she was.

I would recommend this book to anyone, this is definitely a MUST read!
