Willow
by: Julia Hoban
Seven months ago, on a rainy March night, sixteen-year- old Willow's parents drank too much wine and asked her to drive them home. They never made it—Willow lost control of the car and her parents died in the accident. Now she has left behind her old home, friends, and school, and blocks the pain by secretly cutting herself. But when Willow meets Guy, a boy as sensitive and complicated as she is, she begins an intense, life-changing relationship that turns her world upside down.
Told in an arresting, fresh voice, Willow is an unforgettable novel about one girl's struggle to cope with tragedy, and one boy's refusal to give up on her
My rating *****
For me this novel was like a journey to discover the truth about self-injury. This is a first for me. Never before i have read such a intense and compelling story about a cutter. On the begining i wasnt sure how intersted i might be in this particular theme, i was afraid i might abandon this book before giving it a chance. Im glad i didnt, because from the first chapter i was hooked.
I think the characters in this novel are well developed, interesting, and very mature despite their age. I was trully moved by the relationship that Willow and Guy had from the very first meeting. Julia Hoban is a very descriptive writer so everyscene in this book is graphic. I love it.
Great read, looking forward to more novels from this author.
